A: were doing p4c. Animal emotions: this activity encouraged the children to think about and understand emotions.

Year 2: The learning objective this week is to learn about things that go into our bodies and onto our skin. The children used previous knowledge to discuss what they think is good for our bodies and what is not so good. Using a drawing of a person they listed all the things they thought might go into or onto a person’s body, this was recorded on drawing.

Activity A: p4c. getting into a circle the children had to tell a story using only 1 word each. This helps the children with their listening and speaking skills and encourages imagination.

Year 3: Using scenario cards about hazards or risks in the home, the children were asked to identify the risk in each scenario then put them in the order they thought were either no risk, small risk, big risk or most risky. This then led to whole class feed back and discussions about their reasons for giving certain answers.

Year 4: the first task was to get into pairs and sort questions on a sheet into true, false and not sure. The questions all related to smoking. This opened up a great discussion and gave the class chance to address any misconceptions.

Year 5: using a power point presentation the children learnt how to deal with common injuries using basic first aid techniques. This included how to respond to an emergency, including when and how to contact different emergency services.

Year 6: to learn about some of the risks and effects of legal and illegal drug use, the children began with brainstorming their knowledge and understanding. We discussed alcohol, tobacco, volatile substances and over the counter and prescription drugs. The children then paired up to complete a task using cards, where they had to match up a drug card with the effects and risks that was associated with it.
