This week we are covering RSE. The teaching of this subject was age appropriate, the older children were asked not to give information to younger children as they may find it confusing.
Yr1/2 Growing and Changing
We have previously covered relationships and diversity and relationships and boundaries.
This session is about differences in our bodies, safe adults and knowing what is right for you- your body and your choices. We recapped the differences between a girl and a boy using the correct terminology.
What are the correct words for boy and girl private parts?
We also discussed how are private parts are private and how to react to anything that is inappropriate or they are uncomfortable with. This gave an opportunity for the children to share their thoughts and understanding on what is right for them and think about who their safe adults are.

We had a quiz on choices and making the right decisions in certain scenarios. They thought about being happier, safer and healthier.
What changes could you make to be happier, safer and heathier?
Year3/4, after recapping previous learning the children worked and discussed the changes that happen through puberty. They organised statements into boy, girl and both. We then talked about the emotions that come with puberty and how to manage them.

Year6, as well as the personal hygiene yr6 were told about body rights, this is about someone’s rights to make decisions about their own bodies. Every child has the right to be protected from being hurt and mistreated. F.G.M stands for female genital mutilation and is illegal in the UK and abroad.
